Week 13/52 / Semana 13/52

Sebastian is doing great with his potty training, he is mainly using diapers only to sleep. We did not have enough training pants, but he is using his cotton shorts every time we run out of clean undies. He has also started call them "undis". These days, his vocabulary is expanding quite quickly, he keeps asking (in English) What is this? Who is this? with a very cute accent. He is also calling things by its names, such as vaca (cow in Spanish) instead of muuuu and pasta, and perro (dog in Spanish) instead of wow wow. He calls Auggie, baby Auggy and sometimes Augou.

He loves to play in the mud and in the water, he takes every opportunity he has to play with water. This morning he was in the mud at 6.30 am. His hair is very crazy, a friend of mine calls him Mowgly (like the boy from the Jungle Book)

I started a project taking pictures of the boys toys. So that when they are old, they will be able to remember the toys they played with. I started with the "special needs toys" (the ones without head, arms, legs, etc) that Sebastian still plays with and with the Toy Story gang. As soon as he realized that I was taking pictures of his toys, he come to play with them :). He is very funny, every time he plays with "Jessie" (the Ana Bolena from Toy Story), he sees her headless body and says Ohhh Noooo!!!

Auggie refuses to eat from the bottle. He prefers to drink his mommy's milk from a cup, which is great. He has been a little bit difficult this week with his food. So we decided to start trying solids with him. He seems to be ready. We fed him with rice cereal on Sunday, and he was quite happy. We first checked on Friday if he will be ok sitting on the feeding chair. He is a little bit small, but he managed to stay up. He is starting a month earlier than Sebastian. But I think he is doing very well.

Pregunta a cada rato (en Ingles) What is this? Who is this?

12/52 week / Semana 12/52

This week has been a little bit crazy, I could not take many pictures. Sebastian and I got sick with a nasty cold. Auggie was holding, a little bit congested but overall fine. I think his mommy milk was helping to fight the viruses that are around us these days. Our friend Matt was also sick. And Celestine got sick towards the end of the week. Sebastian missed almost the whole week of school. But towards the end of the week he was his old self, jumping, running and laughing as usual.

On Sunday after speaking with Grandpa and Grandma Hoke we went back home (we were at the office waiting for the electricity to come back to our house), bathed the boys and gave dinner to Seb. We left him on his chair. I was feeding Auggie and Jason was washing something in the kitchen. Next time I checked Sebastian, the poor boy had fell asleep on his chair eating his second serving of peas and rice (that is his weekly picture).

Auggie is 5 months today. I will take his monthly picture during lunchtime today. He is moving a lot, turning right and left, playing with his feet (eating them- see his weekly pic) and smiling a lot. He is such a good  guy. My friend Eliana who is 7 months pregnant tells the baby in her belly to be a nice boy like Auggie :)

Auggie cumple 5 meses hoy.

I am getting sooo big!!!

It's been a busy week, the heat has begun to manifest with all the strength of the hot season. But besides weather changes, we have had many changes in the house ... good changes!!. Last Sunday someone told us that the bi-lingual primary school had reopened and that they were receiving children starting at two years. On Monday, we went to check and it was true. After talking with the director, we decided it was worth sending the chipmunk.

When we got home, we told Sebastian that the next day he will go to school. He was happy, he was saying ecul, ecul (school). But I think he did not understand exactly what was going to happen. At night, we rescued from oblivion his Curious George lunchbox and his monkey backpack. Both used during his school time in Peru. As soon as he saw them he was SUPER happy!!. He grabbed his backpack and lunch box and it said Ecul, ecul. The next day when he sat in the car, he was hugging his school stuff. I discovered him from time to time with a nervous smile on his face saying yeee!, yeee!. He was soo happy. It was very sweet to see him saying yeee!, Closing his eyes and pressing his face showing how happy he was. When we got to school, he took the hand of one of the teachers and entered the room (he remembered well his ritual at the Peruvian School). Once inside, he sat down and began to play. We thought we had to stay a while, but he was already in another world. We said bye son and we left. He answered with a brief bye mom, bye dad. And stayed happy!

Auggie, had his first quiet morning at home, slept for looong time without any crazy loud mouth waking him up, ate well, and was the center of attention of Celestine for a few hours.
Now we have to get used to a new routine that involves leaving home half an hour earlier to take Seb to school. But we do not mind, seeing his happy face and know that he will be sharing with other children is simply "priceless." For everything else there is mastercard!! J

This week, we also wanted to celebrate Easter. To celebrate Easter, I made some bunny hats for the kids. Sebastian and I painted boiled eggs (just to find the dye took me about 3 weeks. When I gave up a day before Easter, a friend told me that he had a new box of food dye). And because I am  a over achiever. I even made brownies inside eggshells, which costed me sweat and tears (literally). Everything to have a fun day with Sebastian. In the end, Sebastian was too tired to hunt for eggs, and we ate the brownies while he was sleeping. However I can report that the brownies were very good and we had fun during the process of making the eggs. The hats were properly used and re-used (as you can see in the pics)

This week also brought another big change. Sebastian began to wear underwear. We decided to use the long weekend, and apply all the preparation we had with Seb to start leaving the diapers. Since about a month ago, we read a book called "Everyone poops." The little chipmunk –as good Fajardo he is- loves the book. Talk about poop all day!. From animal poop, from our own, draws poop in his drawings. Poop, poop, poop!!! The preparation was worth it. Sebastian got it very quickly. The first day he did pipi in the potty training and the toilet. Such a big boy my little one!! His parents, drooling, all proud of the son who does pipi in the potty. The second day, things got a bit complicated because SEB got a stinky diarrhea and had to return to the diapers. Today he is feeling better and is starting again with the training pants. His mommy managed to get someone to bring him some training pants, which have an extra layer to keep accidents away. They are working very well. They even have pictures of animals that Sebastian loves

Week 10/52 / Semana 10/52

This week, Jason traveled to the east of Chad for work, so, Friday when he come back, the 5 of us (Auggie, Seb, Celestine, Feli and me)  were desperately waiting for him to get to the house. The boys behaved really well during his absence.

Sebastian
This week, we gave Sebastian "Under the Same Moon", the book that his Tia Maria sent for the boys. It is a book that records the voice of a person reading the story in the book. Isabel (7 years old), read the story for Seb & Auggie. So that when Sebastian opened the book he could hear Isabel telling him the story. It was REALLY COOL!! to hear Isabel's voice. Sebastian was looking everywhere to find where the voice was coming from. At some point we have to take the book away from him, because he started touching the buttons and almost recorded over Isabel's voice. THANKS TIA MARIA!!!

GRACIAS TIA MARIA!!!!
